Characterization of gas transport through materials: application to Vacuum Science and Technology

Dear Colleagues,
you are invited to attend the 105th  IUVSTA workshop on “Characterization of gas transport through materials: applications to Vacuum Science and Technology” will be held between 21st  and 24th  of October 2025 in Santa Margherita Ligure - Portofino, Italy.”
Scope: Stimulate discussions and collaborations between different scientific areas where gas transport through materials is the common topic and Vacuum Science and Technology make a significant contribution. The IUVSTA workshop will provide a unique opportunity to engage the community on following themes:
•    Gas transport models in dense and porous materials: convective and Knudsen flow, surface diffusion, solution-diffusion and pore flow models, sorption and desorption at surfaces
•    Vacuum Science and Technology: Insulations, Components characterization, Outgassing
•    Membranes & Thin Films Technology: Gas barriers and gas sensors, Food packaging, Gas separation, CO2 capture and H2 storage
•    Apparatus for gas transport quantities measurements: state of the art and the contributions of high vacuum technology in developing new instrumentations
The workshop will include invited lectures from the lead experts and contribution talks. It will make time for critical discussions to encourage collaboration and exchange, and it will be able to draw conclusions about open questions. The number of delegates is limited, and the venue has been selected to provide an ideal environment for discussion.

Program

The Workshop sessions include:
•    Invited talks (~30 min. + 10 min. for questions)
•    Contributed talks (~15 min. + 5 min. for questions)
•    Any session will be followed by 30-min. open discussion.
•    Participants are encouraged to come prepared to make 1-2 slide presentations during the discussion sessions.
•    There will be no poster session.

Tour
•    Walking from Santa Margherita Ligure – Portofino. It is not a trekking route because it is developed, in large part, on the driveway, but we recommended it to those who don’t know why this is one of the most beautiful walks to spectacular views of Tigullio that can be admired (who can't, or prefer not walk, local organizing committee provide a transport by bus or by boats).
•    Snack Break in Portofino and visit to Castello Brown
•    For the return it is possibly take a boats which connecting the two towns, or by bus with stop in front of the hotel
•    Workshop Banquet: A seated banquet will be held on the evening of Thursday, 23rd October. Time: 20:00. Place: Best Western Hotel Regina Elena
